Lady Demeter had been near the village with the earthbound people, blessing their fields and crops. It had been a long tiring day and even though she loved them, she just wanted to get away and relax. The village seemed quiet when she walked through the streets. She knew that most of the villagers would still be in their fields working, or getting things ready for the evening meal. She was hoping this time she would be able to sit down and have a nice cup of tea without too much trouble.
She went to the village tea house and looked inside. There was only two people inside. The owner of the establishment, and an older gentleman that was sitting in the corner of the little shop. She went to the counter and ordered a nice cup of tea. She walked over to a small table in the corner of the room and sat down. She was sipping her tea and relaxing when she noticed that a familiar person walked into the tea house.

She knew her mother had said she would be in the village and thought she would look for her in the tea house. She walked in and looked around for her mother. She spotted her, sitting at a small table in a corner. She rushed over to her.

She was sipping her tea, she realized that the person that she saw coming through the door was Persephone.
"Hello dear, you seem to be in a hurry is there anything wrong?"

She smiled. "Of course not, Mother. I was just...lonely." She wasn't sure if her mother would believe that or not, but she thought she would try. Actually, that was part of the reason she was in a hurry. There was more than that, of course, but she wasn't exactly ready to say what it was.

"Lonely?" She smiled at her daughter. "Well you should not have any reason to feel lonely should you? Sit down and tell me what is on your mind and why you are feeling so lonely."

She sat down, and felt like she would explode. She was one who typically spoke everything that was on her mind, without thinking beforehand. "Well, you see...after you left, I had no one to connect with. As you know, Hades and I are totally different! I like flowers, plants, sunlight, and nature. He likes darkness. So, I felt a bit lonely..."

She smiled at Persephone and reached out to take her hand.
"I know that both of you are totally different, like night and day. I can understand how you must feel, wanting to be up here all the time where you feel that you are free. I have something for you. I was wanting to give it to you before, but I wanted us to be alone when I gave it to you."
She reached in the pocket of her gown, and pulled out a necklace. On this necklace was a very rare stone, and the chain was spun with the finest gold. It was sealed by Zeus himself, and given to her as a present when Persephone was born. She stood up and fastened it around Persephone's neck.
"Wear this necklace, and whenever you feel alone or lonely just hold the stone in your hand. You will feel my presence and you will see visions of the fields and flowers, meadows, and trees. Anything that makes you happy you will see. As long as you wear this necklace nothing can destroy it and no one can remove it but yourself."
She leaned over and kissed her daughter on the forehead, than sat back down, smiling at Persephone.

She smiled at her mother and looked at the beautiful necklace. "Oh, Mother, it's lovely!"

"Remember keep it close to you and never take it off."
She smiled at Persephone and sipped some more tea. She was enjoying just sitting here with her. The sun outside was going down and she knew that she had to get going and check on the fields before retiring for the night.
"I hate leaving you, but I do need to get going. Please come by and see me sometime soon."
She stood up to leave, but stopped and gave Persephone a hug and kiss on the cheek.

She hugged her mother, and then stood up. "I should probably be getting back 'home.' I don't want my husband to begin worrying because I am out after dark." She giggled and followed her mother out of the tea house.
